What you'll work on

Key topics and competencies students will acquire and develop during their learning journey.

Global Policy & Diplomacy

You will explore how international organizations set agendas and negotiate across borders, learning to analyze policy problems, weigh competing interests, and frame recommendations that could shape real-world decisions.

Sustainable Development & the SDGs

You will examine the UN's Sustainable Development Goals in depth, translating global targets into practical, measurable initiatives and evaluating what it takes to deliver lasting impact on the ground.

Human Rights & Advocacy

You will study human-rights frameworks and advocacy strategy, learning to build a compelling, evidence-based case and communicate it persuasively to decision-makers and the public.

The UN Pathways Program combines a virtual work experience with in-person immersion in Geneva. Students move from foundational analysis to applied learning within international policy environments.

Program Structure

Two tracks. One connected journey.

Online track

4 Weeks | 10 hrs/week · Cohort + 1:1 · Online

  1. Orientation

    Meet your mentors and cohort, explore the project brief and begin your research.

  2. Understanding global institutions

    Examine international organisations and their role in addressing shared challenges.

  3. Policy writing for international affairs

    Develop evidence-based recommendations and communicate them clearly.

  4. Final pitch & evaluation

    Present your project and receive feedback on your ideas and approach.

Geneva immersion track

10 Days · Cohort · In-Person/Offline

  1. Foundations of diplomacy

    Workshops and guided discussions introduce diplomacy, governance and negotiation.

  2. Exploration & exchange

    Institutional visits, cultural experiences and team activities bring global affairs into context.

  3. Leadership in action

    Collaborate on projects and take part in The Summit, a multilateral simulation.

  4. Final presentation & recognition

    Share your work and celebrate the learning journey at the closing awards event.

Students apply their learning through group projects and The Summit — GSD’s multilateral simulation, and conclude the week with a final presentation.
